Hiking Theth to Valbona trail was absolutely the highlight of our incredible trip to Albania. We did this 19 mile hike in one day and it was not for the faint of heart. Welcome to the Valbona Pass
We departed for Albania’s capital, Tirana, two days after our wedding in mid September. We had a brief layover in Rome (future blog post on spending a few adventure fueled hours there!). We landed in Tirana and thought it would be best to go right to our hotel for the night and refresh for a long day of exploring the next!
Albania is a small country located on the Balkan Peninsula in Southeastern Europe. It is sandwiched between Montenegro and Greece, across from Italy. What really caught my eye here were the sprawling coastlines and the Albanian Alps. Albania is a fairly small country but to really enjoy it and see everything it has to offer, I would suggest spending about two weeks for the entire country. We were only able to get away for 8 days so we had to choose what parts of the country were most important to us. We decided to focus on the northern part of Albania and were not disappointed!
Upon arrival at Lake Komani, we knew we made the right choice in taking the ferry. The hazy, turquoise water was stunning. We had some time to kill and grabbed some fruit and espresso at the little ferry shop.
